Despite the opening of the heavens and the blowing cold wind, today's event proceeded with great success.
Father Mark and Deacon Chris inaugurated the parish market stall in Swindon for the first time, operating under the Unity In Diversity initiative.
As part of the community outreach and educational efforts regarding the Old Catholic Church, Father Mark and Deacon Chris engaged with members of the public. Despite the bitter cold and rain, the community members were eager to gather and learn more about the Church, which has been a local presence since Father Mark's arrival in Swindon in 2009.
While sales did not meet expectations, the primary objective of this new venture is to increase public visibility. The presence of a Priest in our community has been notably absent for too long, and this sentiment is echoed by the public. Perhaps we could consider conducting a poll on this matter next week.
As of today, we will be present at our market stall EVERY Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Once the church has recruited more volunteers, we plan to extend our operations to include Fridays and Saturdays as well.
