Statement from Rev. Dennis Porter – Wyvern Tavern, Swindon
It is with genuine pleasure, gratitude, and no small amount of pride that I take this opportunity to record and share a statement regarding the outstanding success of the past two Thursday evenings at the Wyvern Tavern in Swindon, where we have had the tremendous joy of hosting Karokie.
Over the last two Thursdays, the atmosphere within the Wyvern Tavern has been nothing short of exceptional. From the moment the doors opened, it was clear that something special was taking place. The tavern was alive with energy, laughter, and an unmistakable spirit of community. People from all walks of life came together under one roof, united not only by their love of music and entertainment, but by the shared experience of joy, camaraderie, and celebration.
The success of these evenings has been, in every sense of the word, remarkable.
Karokie has proven to be far more than just a karaoke event—it has become a true occasion, a gathering that brings people together and lifts the heart. The enthusiasm shown by those attending, whether stepping bravely up to the microphone or cheering on friends and strangers alike, has been inspiring to witness. The warmth and encouragement in the room has reminded many of us what community spirit truly looks like: supportive, welcoming, and filled with good humour.
What has stood out most strongly over these past two Thursdays is the sheer quality of the atmosphere created. The performances have been vibrant and entertaining, with a wonderful range of songs and styles, and a level of participation that exceeded all expectations. The room was full of singing, clapping, and smiling faces, and the positive spirit was constant throughout the evening.
I must also commend the Wyvern Tavern itself for providing such a welcoming environment. The staff have been attentive, professional, and consistently friendly, ensuring that everyone felt comfortable and well looked after.
Their dedication has played a significant role in the overall success of these events, helping create an evening that was smooth-running and enjoyable for all.
It is no exaggeration to say that the past two Thursdays have been among the most uplifting and successful nights the Wyvern Tavern has seen in recent times. Attendance was strong, engagement was high, and the response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. Many individuals have expressed how much they have looked forward to these evenings, and how refreshing it has been to enjoy such wholesome entertainment in such a friendly setting.
As Rev. Dennis Porter, I have long believed in the importance of fellowship and togetherness, and I can confidently say that these Karokie nights have provided exactly that. They have given people a reason to gather, to laugh, to express themselves, and to enjoy one another’s company in a manner that is both light-hearted and genuinely meaningful.
In closing, I would like to offer my sincere congratulations and thanks to everyone involved in making these past two Thursdays such a resounding triumph—those organising and hosting, the staff of the Wyvern Tavern, and most importantly the participants and supporters who filled the venue with their voices, their spirit, and their enthusiasm.
May this success continue, and may Karokie at the Wyvern Tavern in Swindon go from strength to strength in the weeks ahead. If the past two Thursdays are anything to go by, the future is extremely bright, and I wholeheartedly look forward to what is still to come.
