Yesterday 04/07/2024 we said farewell to a much loved lady '' Paulina '' - Father Mark Paris Haines

Writer: Father Paris HainesFather Paris Haines

Order of Service:

Entrance Music - Footsteps Daniel O Donnell

‘I am the resurrection and the life,’ says the Lord. ‘Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.’

For all those who trust in Jesus, death will not be the end of the story. Life, resurrection will be the end of the story forever and ever. This is a basic truth of the gospel.

¶ Opening Prayer

We meet in the name of Jesus Christ,

who died and was raised to the glory of God the Father.

Grace and mercy be with you.

We have come here today

to remember before God our sister Paulina

to give thanks for her life;

to commend her to God our merciful redeemer and judge;

to commit her body to be cremated,

and to comfort one another in our grief.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

By his great mercy we have been born anew to a living hope

through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

[All Blessed be God for ever.]

Almighty God, our heavenly Father,

we have sinned against you,

through our own fault,

in thought and word and deed,

and in what we have left undone.

We are heartily sorry,

and repent of all our sins.

For your Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake,

forgive us all that is past;

and grant that we may serve you in newness of life

to the glory of your name.

Amen.

First Song - Hallelujah X Burke

Paulina….

Thank you all for joining us today to pay tribute to Paulina.

It is never easy to say good-bye, but it is important. We are here because Paulina meant so much to us. It's hard to put into words how much Paulina will be missed and what a positive impact she had on each of us.

I know each of you are very saddened by Paulina's passing. And today, as we grieve together, I want to highlight what made so special. If I had to use just three words to describe Paulina, I would say: she was loving, caring and a friend to all. I am sure each of you could add lots more, as I know you experienced Paulina s love in a special way.

Paulina was loved her son’s Micheal and Richard, her friends Channy, Julie & Tracy.

I personally met Paulina on a night out in Swindon where we became friends.

As you may know, Paulina loved others deeply and enjoyed each moment, one moment Micheal recalls and that is – Micheal loved his first adult pint with his mother, and not forgetting those day trips out to the seaside, Paulina made a powerful impact on many of our lives. I admire the way Paulina lived and loved. We will miss Paulina so much. I will close with a quote that has brought me comfort. I hope it does the same for you.

"All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." - Helen Keller

Thank you all once again for honoring Paulina's life with your presence today. May we all continue to love deeply and may each gift of love from remain a part of us.

¶ Commendation and Farewell

Second Song - Mama Il Divo

Family/Flowers

Let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us:

All Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come;

thy will be done;

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation;

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

the power and the glory,

for ever and ever.

Amen.

We have entrusted our sister Paulina to God’s mercy,

and we now commit his/her body to the ground:

earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust:

in sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life

through our Lord Jesus Christ,

who will transform our frail bodies

that they may be conformed to his glorious body,

who died, was buried, and rose again for us.

To him be glory for ever.

All Amen.

Now, Lord, you let your servant go in peace: your word has been fulfilled.

May God give you

his comfort and his peace,

his light and his joy,

in this world and the next;

and the blessing of God almighty,

the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

be among you and remain with you always.

All Amen.
