Who Can Be A Street Volunteer? or a Support Officer?

A significant number of individuals are required to effectively operate the program. We are seeking volunteers to participate in patrols every four weeks, as well as those who are interested in offering prayer support or financial contributions as backup.


Now is a good time to get in touch. Training sessions will be starting soon!

Each person who wishes to be apart of the team:

  • Be 18 years or over

  • Fill in an application form and have two positive references from their Priest or a community leader and another responsible member of the community.

  • Undergo a DBS check.

  • Attend the Training Programme, usually one evening a week for two hours, lasting approximately eight weeks.

  • Be willing to meet 30 minutes before and after going out, this will include the briefing/debriefing and a time to pray together.

  • Be able to work in a team of three to five people.

  • Be available to go out at night on a regular basis, at least monthly.

  • Wear the uniform when on duty

  • Be physically able to patrol the designated route through Swindon between the hours of 21:30 – 2:00.

  • Be willing to seek and build relationships in the area: businesses, shop keepers, local schools, families, police, youth workers etc

  • Be able to respond positively to questions about the Christian faith.

  • Improved co-ordination and communication between different agencies.

  • More effective use of the Police & emergency services

  • A reduction in call outs of  the emergency services

  • Help for the vulnerable

  • Visitors to Swindon feeling welcomed and cared for in the night time economy
