The Start of My Musical Journey
When I stepped into the Swindon Academy of Music, it felt like my life took a turn for the better. This vibrant world was filled with melodies, harmonies, and talented individuals who shared a common love: music. Eager to learn, I found that the Academy was the perfect place for growth.
The instructors there weren’t just teachers. They were mentors who guided me in music theory and performance. I devoted countless hours to improving my skills—from guitar finger exercises to vocal training sessions that pushed me beyond my limits. The friendships I made with fellow students were truly special.
Between music theory lessons and practical sessions, I immersed myself in my craft. I realized that music is more than just notes; it’s about the soul behind every sound. For example, I remember a particular theory class where we worked on chord progressions that shifted our perspective on songwriting. That led to my first original composition, which I performed at a college event.
College Bands and Musical Collaborations
After completing my initial training in 2009, I joined a couple of college bands. Although initially nerve-wracking, these experiences proved exhilarating. The thrill of playing our first gig made my heart race. There was nothing like strumming my guitar and singing lyrics under spotlights, with cheers from friends and strangers around me.
Being part of a band taught me invaluable lessons about teamwork. Each member brought a unique flair, which created music that was distinctly our own. We spent long nights rehearsing, perfecting every note and lyric. The bonds we formed during those late-night sessions were special. For instance, one night we worked tirelessly on a new song that ultimately became a crowd favorite at a campus festival, showcasing our growth and collaboration.
The energy of live performance was addicting, and I soon sought opportunities beyond college gigs.
Supporting Wrong Jovi: A Dream Come True
Fast forward a few years, and I received an amazing opportunity: supporting the lead singer of Wrong Jovi, a Bon Jovi tribute band! This moment was pivotal in my musical journey. I was both excited and nervous at the thought.
Performing with seasoned musicians was a dream. They mentored me on stage presence and audience engagement. My nerves faded the moment I stepped on stage, embracing the vibrant energy of the crowd.
We played at incredible venues, such as the Electric Ballroom and The Vegan Shack in Old Town. The atmosphere was electric; hearing the crowd roar was thrilling! I learned how to connect with the audience, read their vibes, and, most importantly, leave them wanting more.
Those nights filled with music, laughter, and the joy of performing for enthusiastic audiences will always hold a special place in my heart.

Open Mic Nights: Unleashing My Creativity
Participating in numerous open mic nights was another exciting chapter in my journey. These events offered the perfect stage to experiment with new material and showcase my evolving style.
I vividly recall my first open mic experience. Filled with excitement and anxiety, I approached the microphone. However, the support from fellow artists and listeners quickly eased my fears. Open mic nights became a hub for creativity; each performance was an opportunity to discover new sounds, explore different genres, and refine my skills.
I also found immense joy in watching other performers share their stories through music. The community around these events was powerful. Through collaboration, I made lasting friendships and witnessed how music unites people from different backgrounds.
Going Viral: My TikTok Journey
This past year, I dove into the digital realm, and I’m thrilled to share that my TikTok channel has grown to a remarkable 1,500 likes! Given how influential social media is today, it has been an unexpected yet exciting avenue for me.
Creating TikTok content allows me to break free from traditional performance constraints. I showcase not just my singing but also my personal journey, including rehearsals, songwriting processes, and behind-the-scenes moments.
I never thought this platform would connect me with so many music lovers. Each time I post a new video, my heart races with anticipation. For example, one of my recent posts, where I shared a cover of a popular song with my own twist, received over 300 likes in just a few days!
Embracing TikTok challenges also opened doors for creative collaborations with fellow musicians and influencers, broadening my horizons. This journey has highlighted the importance of being adaptable in our ever-changing musical landscape.
Lessons Learned Along the Way
My musical journey has been full of triumphs and challenges that have shaped me as an artist. Learning to cope with stage fright, facing disappointment when a performance didn’t go as planned, and navigating the ups and downs of the music industry have all contributed to my growth.
One essential lesson I’ve learned is resilience. The path to musical success isn’t always smooth, but every setback has taught me something valuable. Embracing feedback and continuously seeking improvement has been vital for my dedication to my craft.
Collaboration is another key lesson. Some of my best musical ideas have emerged from working with others. The exchange of creative ideas fuels innovation and pushes me to explore new territories.
Authenticity is crucial too. Connecting with listeners on a personal level fosters a bond that goes beyond the music itself. I strive to write and perform from the heart, sharing my experiences to create meaningful connections with my audience.
A New Chapter: Ordination
As my musical journey unfolds, I’m excited to share a new chapter: my path to ordination. Pursuing this spiritual calling alongside my passion for music feels right.
Music has always been a source of solace and healing for me. I believe this journey will allow me to make a meaningful impact on my community. Just as I connect with audiences through my songs, I hope to touch lives through spiritual guidance.
This transition also gives me a chance to explore how music and spirituality intertwine. Whether leading worship or using music as a meditation tool, I look forward to integrating these aspects into my life.
Reflecting on My Journey
Looking back on my musical experiences fills me with gratitude for the connections, lessons, and memories I’ve gathered. From rocking out in college bands to supporting a tribute band and thriving on TikTok, each moment has contributed to my identity as an artist.
As I prepare to embark on the next phase of ordination, I’m excited about the future. My love for music will continue to shine through every endeavor as I open myself to new opportunities for growth and connection.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope my story encourages you to follow your passions, embrace new experiences, and stay resilient in the face of challenges. Here’s to the vibrant symphony that lies ahead!
