He Is Born – The Promise Fulfilled

Christmas is not merely the celebration of a baby born in Bethlehem; it is the celebration of a promise kept. For centuries, God’s people waited, hoped, prayed, and trusted. Generation after generation lived with expectation that one day, God would act decisively to save His people.
And then, in the quiet of a Judean night, the angel declared words that changed history forever:“Unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”He is born — the promise fulfilled.
From the very beginning, God revealed Himself as One who speaks promises.
In Genesis, He promised a Savior who would crush the serpent’s head.
To Abraham, He promised a blessing to all nations.
Through David, He promised a King whose throne would last forever.
Through the prophets, He promised light for those in darkness.
Isaiah declared, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given.”Micah foretold that the ruler would come from Bethlehem.
These were not vague hopes or poetic dreams — they were divine commitments.
Luke 2 opens not with angels, but with history — rulers, decrees, and places. Why? Because God fulfills His promises in real time and real places.
Galatians 4:4 says, “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son.”
Not early. Not late. But right on time.
The promise was fulfilled:
Not in a palace, but in a manger
Not announced to kings, but to shepherds
Not with power as the world defines it, but with humility and grace
God kept His word exactly as He said He would.
The promise was not a program, a philosophy, or a political solution. The promise was a Person.
His name is Jesus — meaning “The Lord saves.”
He was born:
To save us from sin
To restore us to God
To bring peace, hope, and new life
The manger points to the cross. The swaddling clothes point to the grave. But the grave could not hold Him.
This child was born to die — and to rise again — so the promise of salvation could be complete.
The fulfillment of God’s promise did not end in Bethlehem. It continues in every life that receives Christ.
The same Jesus who was born:
Still brings hope to the hopeless
Still brings light to the dark
Still brings peace to troubled hearts
Christmas reminds us that God has not forgotten us.If He kept His promise then, He will keep His promises now.
Church, Christmas proclaims one powerful truth:
He is born — the promise fulfilled.
When the world was waiting, God acted. When hope seemed distant, heaven came near. When humanity could not reach God, God reached us.
So today, let us rejoice.Let us worship.Let us trust again.
Because the God who fulfilled His greatest promise in Jesus Christwill never fail to keep His word.
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.”
Amen.
