Christmas Message from Bishop Adrian
Advent has been meaningful and poignant this year: perhaps more so than others in recent times.
Now, as we receive into our hearts the Immanuel, the Christ, the God-child; into our very being let us celebrate the fact that God sent His only Son into the world on our behalf: on every sinner's behalf.
Celebrations of food and family and fellowship are prevalent at this time; so let us enlarge on that and share celebrations of prayer, contemplation and Eucharist so that Immanuel - which means 'God with us' - may be in and around us always.
Christ was born at Bethlehem: which translates as 'house of bread'. Our saviour; our Bread of Life, came into the world to save sinners - us: and we can and do take the Bread of Life into ourselves at each Eucharist. In a way: we are born again each time in our 'Bethlehem' at every Communion. 'Midnight Mass' is no exception...
I pray that each of us, will receive the Bread of Life again this Christmas, as Immanuel within and for us. Then we can share the hope of salvation with those that Christ calls us to serve; in the hospitals or care homes; in the workplace or civil & military forces, on the street, or by broadcast or in our communities.
I thank you all for the tireless serving that you all do for Christ and the people sent our way; it is a privilege to be your bishop: you are all wonderful ministers of God's Grace to those you serve.
Thank you, for all you do for Christ in the Old Catholic Apostolic Church.
Gaudete! Gaudete! Christus est natus, ex Marie, a virginae Gaudete.
